NEW for 2007, Interbuild is launching its Eco Product Showcase alongside a series of snapshot seminars focussing on the environment and related ‘hot’ topics.
These new additions to the five day schedule (Sunday 28 October – Thursday 1 November) are complemented by the show’s signature red logo appearing in its modified green guise, and see the start of a long line of EcoInterbuild initiatives being put into place in the lead up to the show.
“Sustainability issues increasingly affect all aspects of building, from house extensions to office blocks and warehouses,” says Interbuild Event Director, Gordon Thomas. “Our aim is to make sustainability accessible for all professionals working within the trade.”
In a bid to bring together the people at the very forefront of energy saving, resource management and sustainability; show organisers are working closely with key industry bodies to run a series of ‘green’ themed seminars taking place in Halls 3 and 5.
Hall 5 will play host to the BRE’s sessions on ‘low carbon homes’, alongside thought-provoking programmes presented by RIBA CPD, TRADA and Mtech who - as well as touching on the topical ‘eco’ drive - will also be addressing other important issues specific to their individual sectors; while Hall 3 sees CEDIA, Voltimum and the NICEIC taking the lead on issues directly affecting lighting, electrical and home automation. Interbuild is also liaising with all involved trade associations to ensure that their individual ‘eco’ and issues-driven initiatives are widely communicated across all relevant areas.
Furthermore, to help visitors source environmentally efficient solutions quickly and easily, the Eco Product Showcase will run alongside the longstanding New Product Showcase. Any products put forward for the ‘Energy & Sustainability’ category in Interbuild’s 2007 New Product Awards will also automatically qualify to feature as part of the Eco Product Showcase.
“With the industry facing increased pressure from homeowners to ‘go green’; fuelled by Ruth Kelly’s carbon zero homes challenge and the government’s current focus on reducing carbon footprints, we felt it critical that this year’s show should reflect a strong environmental presence,” says Gordon.
“I look forward to making further announcements as EcoInterbuild really takes off in the coming months.”
