During the past week, the Western Region unit of Ballast Nedam Bouw obtained contracts for housing projects worth a total of approximately 35 million euros.
Under contract to Vestia Midden Nederland, Ballast Nedam will carry out large-scale maintenance on 564 residences in Nieuwerkerk aan de IJssel. The six large apartment blocks in question will be fully renovated. Starting in September 2007, the work will last for approximately two years.
In Dordrecht, Ballast Nedam will build 40 detached and link-detached properties under contract to Hopman Interheem of Gouda. These properties will be built in accordance with the Origineel Wonen (Original Living) concept, which was developed by Ballast Nedam. While the area of ground involved and certain external characteristics are fixed, the buyers are free to design the layout of their own property. This allows them to create a house that is precisely attuned to their needs and requirements. Ballast Nedam has already developed and built approximately 80 properties in line with this concept, in the municipalities of Zoetermeer, Hillegom and Ridderkerk, and elsewhere.
At the end of 2007, Ballast Nedam will start work on the construction of 29 luxury villas in Zoetermeer, under contract to Bouwfonds MAB, of Delft. This project is part of a 10-year period of construction, involving a total of 5500 properties. These are being built under the leadership of Bouwcombinatie Zoetermeer Oosterheem.
