ICS Penetron International Ltd., a leader in integral crystalline waterproofing products is pleased to announce that Penetron was used to protect the High Tech Louisiana Facility.
Located in the Research Park of the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, the $27 million, 70,000 square foot Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE) Center is one of the most comprehensive and tightly integrated data visualization and supercomputing installations in the world serving industry, government and universities. The facility houses the world's first six-sided, digital virtual reality cube, as well as the world's largest 3-D auditorium. "It will be the largest immersive auditorium in the world." said project architect Charles D. Beazley.
The six-sided total immersive space is three stories high and will utilize six projectors. Visitors enter the space on the second floor and stand on a 10-foot by 10-foot piece of acrylic. The images are displayed on all surrounding walls, including the floor and ceiling, giving visitors the opportunity to look at images in every direction. These advanced visualization environments will be powered by one of the fastest supercomputers in the world.
To create this digital environment, $12 million dollars worth of computers and advanced technology have been installed. Below the technology center runs a maze of concrete ducts and tunnels designed to provide conditioned air, cabling pathways and access. Ensuring that the environmentally sensitive equipment was well protected from moisture was a critical issue and Penetron was chosen to provide these assurances in its specification and application to the concrete ducts.
"Even though the work being done here is in the high tech electronic industry," said Christopher Chen, Director of North American Sales and Marketing, "it is still the basic concrete construction that houses and protects such futuristic endeavors and Penetron is pleased that its own unique crystalline concrete waterproofing technology was chosen to be an integral part of the protection of this facility
