Thomas & Betts' Steel City® Adjustable Mud Ring ensures that stud-mounted outlet boxes will fit flush with any thickness of finished drywall, plaster or ceramic tile. Among its features is an inner ring that adjusts from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches to accommodate various drywall thicknesses. Two adjustment screws enable the inner ring to be set at the anticipated depth prior to installation and easily adjusted after installation. Mountable to four-inch square metallic deep outlet boxes, the Adjustable Mud Ring offers the rugged steel construction of a standard mud ring with greater flexibility.
"Getting stud-mounted outlet boxes flush to varying depths of drywall is a common problem that contractors face when doing rough-in installations around firewalls, ceramic-tile walls and in hospitals," said Joe Pede, product manager at Thomas & Betts. "The Steel City Adjustable Mud Ring offers a quick, easy and economical solution by making its depth adjustable even after installation and ensuring a code-compliant finish."
The adjustment screws and quick-release locking mechanism are located outside of the inner ring, leaving maximum capacity for devices and protecting against router damage and excess mudding. The patent-pending design of the Adjustable Mud Ring also features measured rule markings for fast pre-setting.
The Steel City® Adjustable Mud Ring is UL® Listed and accepts all industry-standard devices, including GFCIs.
