The threat to homeowners living next to dangerous industrial factories was emphasised this weekend by the disastrous explosions at the Festival Fireworks factory in East Sussex. The explosion resulted in two deaths, 12 serious injuries, one house being burnt down, countless residents being evacuated from their homes and a 200 metre exclusion zone created around the factory.
Landmark Information Group highlights that homeowners concerned about potentially dangerous trade activities can commission either an Envirosearch or a Homecheck Professional report. Both reports outline potential risks to homeowners by identifying where hazardous substances are used or stored and the areas at risk should the substances combust.
James Sherwood-Rogers, Managing Director of Landmark Legal & Financial commented: “Following disasters such as this, it is only natural for people to ask how families can safe guard themselves against industrial incidents like this in the future.”
James continues: “Commissioning an Envirosearch or Homecheck Professional is one of the only ways to gather information like this. These searches are usually carried out when people move home, but can be purchased by anybody concerned.”
Landmark Information Group’s Envirosearch and Homecheck Professional reports have been formulated to allay homebuyers’ fears. The information on substances included within the report is not picked up through any other standard searches. The reports also provide information on the risk of flooding, contamination and subsidence.
