New Code For Door Repairs and Maintenance

The latest Code of Practice issued by the Door and Shutter Manufacturers’ Association (DSMA) identifies best practice techniques for the repair and maintenance of industrial, commercial and fire resisting doors and shutters.

The Code of Practice has been produced specifically to help manufacturers, repair and maintenance organisations, specifiers and end users comply fully with safety enforcement requirements. It explains what maintenance is required to achieve optimum quality of operation with maximum safety throughout the life cycle of the equipment. It also lists legal requirements and guidance documents, definitions of common terminology and identifies the specific documentation needed for correct repair and maintenance.

The Code of Practice for the repair and maintenance of industrial and commercial doors is the fourth in a "family" of Codes and Practices produced by the DSMA. The first three Codes cover the specification of fire resisting metal doorsets, power operation of doors and shutters and fire resisting rolling shutters. Planned future Codes will cover garage doors and the correct specification of metal doorsets.
