Dick Corporation has received a $30 million contract to provide construction management services to the General Services Administration (GSA) for the modernization of the A.J. Celebrezze Federal Building in Cleveland, Ohio. This is Dick Corporation's fourth contract with the GSA's Chicago office.
The building, constructed in 1966, is a 32-story office tower located in downtown Cleveland. The 1.5 million square foot building is adjoined on all four sides by public plazas and is landscaped with granite pavers and planting areas.
Work on the A.J. Celebrezze Building is slated to be completed in three phases. Phase I will consist of the installation of a new fire alarm system including new devices and front-end equipment. Phase II will be a reconstruction of an "urban forest" in the exterior plaza that includes demolition, structural repair, waterproofing, fills, pavers, and extensive landscaping. The third and final phase will be an upgrade to the building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. Two new air handling units will be lifted by helicopter to the roof of the building, with existing air handling units and supply being updated as required for conversion. All three phases will be completed in 35 months, during which time the building will remain fully operational.
