Insulation Made From Soy Beans

BioBased Systems of the USA have developed a polyurethane foam insulation based on soybean oil. The material known as BioBase 501 is a spray-in-place, two part water blown foam. It acts like a petroleum based foam but contains no formaldehyde and emits no VOC’s or CFC’s.

The insulation is sprayed as a liquid that expands to 100 times its original size penetrating every cavity and creating millions of tiny air pockets to provide its excellent insulating properties. It also creates a seamless, windproof barrier that eliminates air leakage and therefore prevents energy loss.

BioBase 501 is also cheaper than comparable petroleum based products and as it is made from soybeans comes from an environmentally friendly, fully renewable resource.
