Buildtec South West of Exeter has been appointed a Recommended Contractor for H+H Celcon's Rå House and joins a growing team of specialist contractors across the UK able to offer this new concept in quick and efficient masonry construction.
Rå House, which uses teams of expert installers to quickly and efficiently build the complete airtight, weatherproof, high quality masonry shell of a house, was launched by H+H Celcon last autumn in response to the growing demand for Modern Methods of Construction.
Using Celcon aircrete blocks with the Thin-Joint System, engineered flooring systems and proprietary roofs, with options for Celcon Foundation blocks and the Celcon Flooring System at ground floor, the Rå House concept provides a combined package of build and materials. This enables builders to benefit from the most modern materials and lean processes available today. Benefits include both speed of construction and quality of build.
Ian Smith and Adrian Bond established Buildtec in Exeter in 1995 to provide a brickwork contracting and general building service to customers in the south and south west of England and the Midlands.
The company already has its first Rå House project under way in Bideford, North Devon where Buildtec is building the masonry shells for a development of four bungalows at Lenwood Country Club. Other projects using the system are in the pipeline.
Commenting on his company's appointment at the formal contract signing last week Buildtec director Ian Smith said: "Having worked in Germany where the use of aircrete with thin-layer mortar is so popular, I was very enthusiastic about us becoming a Rå House contractor. It is an extremely fast, clean system which results in an excellent, quality, finished product.
I can see more and more people converting to it. Our client at Bideford is really impressed with what we have been able to achieve and with the interest we are receiving I believe Rå House has a great future."
