EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles Sign Announce Red Tile Project

EDF Energy and EDF Energies Nouvelles are delighted to announce that the Red Tile project has reached a major milestone by achieving financial completion. This new wind farm located in Cambridgeshire is close to EDF Energies Nouvelles Glass Moor, Red House, and Deeping wind farms whose construction is already well underway.

The agreement between EDF Energies Nouvelles and EDF Energy is for EDF Energy to purchase the full electrical output produced by the wind farm, including ROCs, LECs, and REGOs. The output of this new wind farm is circa 67GWh per annum, which is enough green energy to supply the annual needs of 15,000 homes.

Work on the project has already started with commissioning expected in early 2007.

Chris Daniels, Chief Operating Officer of EDF Energy's Energy Branch, said:

'I'm delighted that the strength of the EDF Group has enabled us to conclude this contract with EDF Energies Nouvelles and increase further the amount of our electricity produced from renewable sources. It is another important step towards delivering EDF Energy's strategy of a diversified generation mix.

'Diversity is the key to a sustainable and secure supply of electricity for the UK in the longer term. As part of that diverse mix, we believe that more renewables should play their part alongside clean coal, gas, nuclear and energy savings measures. We are delighted to be working towards these goals in close cooperation with our sister company.'

Yvon Andre, Chief Operating Officer of EDF Energies Nouvelles said:

'We are pleased with this deal with EDF Energy. This is the fourth contract we have completed within a year and further arrangements with EDF Energy are expected in the near future associated with our UK wind farm activities'.
