Self Cleaning Glass

Since it’s launch last year, Pilkington Activ, self-cleaning glass has amazed many and is now being recognised by specifiers as the prime product for reducing cleaning and maintenance costs on both residential and commercial applications. As such they have just produced a new brochure targeted at the commercial market. The brochure is available directly from Pilkington.

The glass itself is ordinary glass with a special coating on the outside that has the unique dual-action cleaning properties. Once exposed to daylight, the coating chemically reacts in two ways. First, it breaks down any organic dirt deposits and second, rain water ‘sheets’ down the glass to wash the loosened dirt away.
