NCC is to build the new Vannhög and Lillevång school for pupils aged 6-16, with accompanying sports facilities in western Trelleborg, Sweden. The order secured by NCC from the Municipality of Trelleborg is worth SEK 309 million.
“It will be exciting to work with NCC on this project, which is the largest in the Municipality’s history. It is reassuring to work with such a large company that can assign resources when needed,” says Magnus Ahlström, project manager at the Municipality of Trelleborg.
The existing buildings, apart from the canteen and kitchen, were constructed in 1972 and will be demolished since they are in poor condition. A new three-story school building, with a setback third floor, will be constructed in its place. The existing canteen and kitchen will be extended and connected to the new building with a foyer area.
The northern part of the building will house premises for younger pupils (Lillevång school) and the southern part will be for the older pupils (Vannhög school). The school will also have new premises for special needs groups. A foyer area and administration, library and special premises for woodwork and home economics, etc., will be centrally located.
Two new halls for sport, games and physical education will be constructed adjacent to the school.
“We have long and extensive experience of building innovative and sustainable school buildings at NCC. The main challenge lies in constructing the school while lessons are being held at the same time. As a result, safety in and around the worksite will be a key focus area, which we will solve based on detailed logistics planning and regular briefings with the school,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
The architect is Chroma Arkitekter. Work will commence immediately by demolishing and moving annexes. The whole project is scheduled for completion in summer 2019.
The transaction will be registered during the third quarter of 2016 in the NCC Building business area.
