Sheffield Hallam University students have taken the top three prizes at the regional heat of the Women in Property (WiP) National Student Awards.
Yasmine Lunn, studying real estate, was the overall winner in the Yorkshire and North East competition, and will now go through to the national final in London. Charlotte Dennish, studying quantity surveying and Jenna Whitehead, studying building surveying, were both runners-up and received 'Highly Commended' certificates in the awards. The 12 finalists in this region were nominated by their universities and invited to go before a judging panel of industry experts, where they were questioned on a piece of coursework and topical industry issues.
WiP has the remit of encouraging girls and young women to enter the industry through an extensive education programme that includes its National Student Awards.
Yasmine has done really well to win the regional award and we are delighted she will be representing this region at the national final in London. Charlotte and Jenna came a very close second, which is why we decided to award two Highly Commended certificates.
Maria White, Vice Chairman of the Yorkshire and North East branch of WiP
Yasmine, who received a cheque for £300 and a trophy at the ceremony in Leeds, said: “I was thrilled when my university nominated me for these awards and the process has been an amazing experience. "I've been really inspired by being surrounded by people who have a real passion for property, diversity and networking. I’ve learned a lot and met some great people - including the judges, who I’d like to thank for putting their faith in me.”
We are delighted and very proud of Yasmine, Charlotte and Jenna's achievements. It reflects the focus and efforts of both staff and students towards ensuring that talent is encouraged from all quarters within our courses.

The national final, which will be held on 21 September at Claridge’s, London, will see Yasmine compete against students from across the UK for the National Student Awards trophy.
