Construction of New Rental Housing Project Underway in Saskatoon

The Government of Canada and the Province of Saskatchewan, along with the City of Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Housing Coalition, officially announced a new rental housing project in Saskatoon. The project consists of 20 studio style units for at-risk individuals who are unable to find or maintain secure housing without support services.

The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, on behalf of the Honourable Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), along with the Honourable Jennifer Campeau, Minister of Central Services and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Saskatoon Fairview, on behalf of the Honourable Donna Harpauer, Minister of Social Services and Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, and His Worship Donald Atchison, Mayor of the City of Saskatoon, made the announcement today.

  • The federal and provincial governments, through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC), are jointly contributing $1.9 million through the Canada-Saskatchewan Investment in Affordable Housing (2014-2019) Agreement.
  • In addition, the City of Saskatoon is providing $277,000 to support the project.
