BEAM Built-in Vacuum Receives National Green Building Standard Certification

BEAM Built-in Vacuums' have earned National Green Building Standard certification by the National Association of Homebuilders' Home Innovation Research Labs. Installing a BEAM central vacuum power unit can earn a builder three points toward meeting the standard's indoor environmental quality requirements.

Installing a BEAM system also qualifies for an indoor environmental quality certification point in the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for Homes Program.

BEAM earned the Home Innovation Laboratory's NGBS certification on the basis of a clinical study by the University of California Davis School of Medicine. The study found that allergic rhinitis patients experienced a significant reduction in each of seven symptom categories ranging from watery eyes to sneezing, and sleeping difficulties when they used a BEAM Built-in Vacuum instead of a portable vacuum to clean their homes.

To date, BEAM is the only built-in vacuum clinically proven to relieve allergies.

The impact on indoor air and allergy symptoms is attributed to the design of the systems that assure 100 percent of captured dirt and allergens are completely removed from the living space. Because the power unit's collection receptacle is typically installed in a garage, basement or utility room, no exhaust air enters the living space to stir up dust.

"Installing a BEAM Built-in Vacuum is an affordable upgrade that empowers homeowners to maintain a healthier living environment for as long as they live in their home," says Harry Kandilas, general manager.
