Make It Right Names Owens Corning as Official Insulation Partner

Owens Corning has been named the official insulation partner for Make It Right. In this capacity, Owens Corning contributes cash and gifts-in-kind to the nonprofit organization whose purpose is building sustainable, affordable homes for communities in need.

Earlier this year, the company contributed all the PINK® FIBERGLAS™ insulation needed for new homes on the Fort Peck Indian reservation in Montana. The Owens Corning Foundation also contributed $40,000 in cash to Make It Right in 2015.

Owens Corning has committed to sponsor a home build in Kansas City, Mo., in 2016, as well as FIBERGLAS™ insulation for projects in Kansas City, Fort Peck and New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward.

“Make It Right’s mission of building safe, sustainable homes and buildings for communities in need fits perfectly with our purpose: to make the world a better place through our people and our products,” said Julian Francis, president of the Insulation business. “Just as important to us is how Make It Right achieves its mission – via the highest standards of green construction that produce LEED Platinum certified homes and buildings. Owens Corning, likewise, is committed to leveraging our building science expertise and insulation systems to help builders create better, more sustainable, more comfortable homes.”

"We are honored to welcome them to the Make It Right family," said Tom Darden, executive director, Make It Right. “Insulation provided by Owens Corning and used in our homes will help families in need keep their utility bills low and save money for education, healthy food and a brighter future."

Green features in Make It Right’s LEED Platinum homes include: solar panels, ENERGY STAR® appliances, no-VOC paints and flooring, pervious concrete and high-velocity air conditioners.

“And we’re proud to support this great organization with our fiberglass insulation, which saves 12 times the amount of energy as required to manufacture it,” added Francis.
