Today marks the first day of business at Time Inc.’s new headquarters at 225 Liberty Street in lower Manhattan. Essence, Health, InStyle, MIMI, People en Español, Real Simple and StyleWatch are the first Time Inc. brands to move into the space.
Time Inc. Chairman and CEO Joe Ripp said, “Today is an exciting step in Time Inc.’s comeback. As we transform our business, our new, open environment will foster a greater sense of community and more collaboration across our company. We are also pleased to be part of the rejuvenation of lower Manhattan, now a destination for creative businesses.”
The company commissioned STUDIOS Architecture to design the new space, bringing to life Ripp’s vision for an open, collaborative environment that drives creativity and innovation. Time Inc.’s footprint within the Brookfield Place complex spans 700,000 square feet across eight floors.
The design of Time Inc.’s new headquarters boasts many amenity and specialty spaces including the Henry R. Luce Auditorium, state-of-the-art video and photo studios, a 160-seat cafeteria, a terrace overlooking the Hudson River, the Food & Wine test kitchen, a wine room and multiple fashion, beauty and home closets, among others.
Time Inc.’s move takes place over the next several weeks concluding before the end of the year. In addition to new headquarters downtown, Time Inc. announced earlier this year that it is creating an outpost in Brooklyn’s Industry City that will open by the end of the year. With these moves, Time Inc. leaves the historic Time & Life Building, which has been the company headquarters since it was built in 1959.
