American Institute of Architects Honors Two Jerde Legacy Projects

The Jerde Partnership, an internationally acclaimed architecture and urban planning firm, is being honored by two California chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), recognizing major works that initially established the firm and its global vision of placemaking.

The AIA Los Angeles Chapter is recognizing Jerde's contributions to the Los Angeles built environment by honoring the Games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad with the 25-35 Year Award. This award is given to projects that have advanced design standards across the board, as well as elevated the quality of architectural

practice. Leading a team of designers alongside graphic design firm Sussman/Prejza, Jerde integrated 130 venues scattered across Southern California and transformed the city into a unified Olympic community that set the stage for one of the most profitable games in Olympic history.

The San Diego Chapter of AIA will also be awarding the Jerde-designed Horton Plaza with the 25-35 Year Award, bestowing accolades for the project's continued contributions to the revitalization of San Diego's downtown area and built environment. Horton Plaza redefined the urban retail experience and connected San Diego's downtown core, catalyzing new development in the area since its construction in 1985.
