Cidemco Presents Two New Test Banks for Curtain Walls

At the tenth edition of the International Window, Curtain Walls and Structural Glass Trade Show (VETECO) - to take place at the IFEMA Trade Fair Centre in Madrid between 10 and 13 May -, Cidemco will present its two new test banks for curtain walls which will enable testing with 4x4m and 5x8m structures.

The exigencies of the Directive on Construction Products 89/106/ CEE and the new Building Technical Code, as well as the increase in the levels of quality demanded by the market, have contributed to the need for having a number of test beds for Curtain Walls to provide manufacturers with the required agility in testing and certifying their products, and to developing research projects that enhance their competitiveness.

To this very complete provision of tests for lightweight façades Cidemco offers the possibility of verifying, with the very same sample installed on the test beds, trials for inclement weather, for resistance of the curtain walls to seismic movements and to displacements due to forces from wind.

This new test bed, pioneer in our country, enables the reproduction on actual-scale façades, and in agreement with AAMA norms, the effects of earthquakes and seismic tremors, effects which, by the very nature of seismic events, are unpredictable and the measurement of which can only be undertaken through tests. This, thereby, is an effective tool when designing curtain walls that comply with the norms for seismic events and thus contribute to lessening their impact on buildings and minimising, at the same time, the danger of falling debris during an earthquake and subsequent risks to people.
