A range of Wefatherm pipe and fittings has been specified for the new Bellway City Gate apartment complex in Castlefield, Manchester.
Wefatherm pipework has been installed in sizes ranging from 25mm – 125mm, complete with valves and fittings, to meet the needs of the boosted cold water supply, which is distributed from the basement to the building’s 115 apartments.
Sub-contractors, Thermotech, were originally tasked with specifying a copper pipework system, but after realising the benefits of Wefatherm, the specification was changed. Wefatherm was specified as a more cost effective solution than alternative products, with the benefits of fast and efficient installation, through its superior socket fusion jointing method, resulting in reduced labour time and costs.
John Toboni, of Thermotech, said: “Wefatherm is a great space-saving pipework product, which is ideal for a development such as the City Gate apartments. The system is reliable and its simple installation technique allowed labour time and costs to be reduced.”
Wefatherm boasts excellent performance properties, including low heat conducting capacities, thermal aging resistance and high resistance to corrosion and deposit build up, which all contribute to increasing the product lifespan, providing significant life cycle cost savings.
The 14-month development of City Gate apartments is due for completion in April 2006.
