Gemma Power Systems to Commence Construction of 475MW Natural Gas-Fired Power Plant in Ohio

Gemma Power Systems, LLC (GPS) has received Full Notice to Proceed (FNTP) to commence activities under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services contract with NTE Ohio LLC, an affiliate of NTE Energy, to construct a 475 MW state-of-the-art natural gas-fired power plant in Middletown, OH.

The Ohio project is one of two similar projects awarded to GPS by NTE; the second project, also a 475 MW facility, is located in Kings Mountain, NC for NTE Carolinas LLC.

The NTE projects are the latest in a series of major power plant construction contracts awarded to Gemma in the past few months. GPS currently has EPC contracts to construct nearly 3000 MW of natural gas-fired generation in five states.

The Middletown Energy Center project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2018. The Kings Mountain Energy Center project is anticipated to be released in October and will be complete later in 2018.

“We’re pleased to be working with NTE on this state-of-the-art facility and look forward to delivering a great project experience for them,” said William F. Griffin Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Gemma Power Systems.

The Middletown Energy Center project will employ approximately 300 craft workers at the peak of construction and provide 30 permanent jobs for the area.

Both NTE projects feature an advanced Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas M501GAC combustion turbine generator, a Vogt Power International supplementary-fired heat recovery steam generator and a Toshiba America Energy Systems steam turbine generator.
