The BP Group Sets Up Integrated Building Technologies Division to Increase Sustainability

Leader in the green building space, The BP Group, has announced the Integrated Building Technologies division to serve real estate owners and managers in their mission to increase sustainability, and asset optimization.

Integrated Building Technologies encompasses a full cycle approach to increasing efficiency, connecting intelligent buildings, HVAC maintenance, and analytics; all helping decode issues, pinpoint savings, implement superior systems, and stay ahead of maintenance with hard data.

At last year's SXSW Michael Dell asked, "How much of the data that companies or organizations store is actually being used to create better outcomes or better decisions or better anything?" The US Department of Energy proclaims, "buildings account for 40% of US carbon emissions." The Internal Energy Agency states, "buildings represent one half of electrical energy usage worldwide." Aside from the need for green sustainable building and environmentally friendly design, today's tenants and property owners and operators owe their ability to survive and thrive to efficiency. Implementation of IBT style technologies at the Four Seasons and Tower Miami, shows a 64% reduction energy spend, with $59,970 annual savings. Beyond energy savings, building ventilation improvements have proven to deliver tangible ROI. Airflow, and indoor air quality is now a precise science. Sciencedirect.com's paper Energy and Buildings concludes health issues resulting from poor air quality are a $2 billion a year problem. And the productivity loss of even perceived poor indoor air quality can cost $12 billion annually.

IBT unleashes a building's potential by turning data and predictive analytics into easy to interpret, actionable reports. With savings identified, and preventative maintenance alerts provided by the Building Management System, intelligent HVAC retrofits, and real-time monitoring solves all of the above. Fact based energy efficiency improvements and data, lower operational and maintenance expenses. While improved airflow boosts productivity for tenants, and becomes a strong value-add selling point.

Over 35 years The BP Group has served Fortune 500 companies has contributed to several notable LEED certified building projects, is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and has assisted in the development of the Urban Green Building Council GRPO curriculum.
