Blending artistic design with the prerequisites of door automation and control, GEZE Slim Line products were chosen to be installed at the most dedicated Children's Hospital in Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art, specialized children's hospital with the highest international standards, in honour of his daughter, Her Highness Sheikha Jalila. GEZE was selected to endorse a full solution for the automated and manually controlled doors at Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital, a state-of-the-art project with a 200-bed hospital that shall provide tertiary and quaternary specialized paediatric health services.
All entrances of the large hospital building are equipped with GEZE Slimdrive SLNT, a product that was designed to be visually appealing while serving the purpose. The drive that has a 7 cm operator is barely visible when installed on the aluminum transom.
The operator is connected with the main building management system to ensure complete control and maximum safety in case of emergencies. For heavy doors GEZE Powerdrive PL was selected to operate the heavy sliding door leafs with a carrying capacity of 200 KG/leaf and the ability to smoothly move the door for a wider, clear opening passage.
The architects also relied on GEZE Slimdrive EMDF system as a solution for the automatic swing doors inside the hospital building. This drive also offers an operator that is 7 cm high with a joined guide rail and a safety sensor that serves as a fully integrated and compact technology which will operate a door of up to 230 KG per leaf, fulfilling the required international standards for the safety of the application.
For the manual swing wooden doors inside the building, the GEZE Concealed Door Closer was chosen to keep with the modern design whilst maintaining the same utility and safety features. The GEZE Boxer, an embedded manual door-closing device, was also installed to optimize the doors within the hospital building, controlling the doors mechanically with a hidden body and guide rail.
The GEZE TS 5000 E-ISM was selected to operate the internal swing door: a surface mounted door closer with an integrated sequence mechanism enabling the door closers to control the double leaf doors and to have active and passive door leaves. The 'E' stands for electro-mechanical hold open; this feature allows the door to be held in an open position and close on any emergency signal.
The construction of Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital was completed this year and is exclusively fitted out with over 1500 specialized products and drives from the GEZE Slim Line Range, which provides the facility with an inclusive and fully automated solution for the doors in the entrance area and for the internal automated/controlled doors within the hospital.
