“We are thrilled to continue working with Royal Building and cultivating our longstanding relationship with them,” said John Diez, President, Dedicated Transportation Solutions, Ryder. “Ryder is committed to ensuring that Royal’s transportation network supports their ongoing growth.”
Ryder has provided its dedicated service to Royal Building Products since 1994. The company turned to Ryder for dedicated transportation services for drivers, tractors, and trailers operating from locations in Marion, Va.; Bristol, Tenn.; and Newbern, Tenn. Ryder Dedicated makes delivering high-truckload volumes easier with access to the tough-to-find specialized equipment it takes to deliver products such as 16- to 20-foot-long PVC moldings, as well as pipe and the associated fittings.
Over the past two decades of partnership with Ryder, Royal Building Products has achieved shorter lead times, faster inventory turns, and enhanced customer service. Ryder has also helped the company experience savings resulting from backhauls, multi-location synergies, and Ryder’s fuel program. Royal Building has experienced less idle time and fewer empty miles, which have led to lower fuel costs. Using one-way carriers to supplement the dedicated service has also translated into significant savings. In addition, improved fill rates have been made possible due to more efficient scheduling of deliveries.
“We’ve changed a lot over the years,” said Cliff Sturgill, Transportation Manager, Royal Building Products. “We’ve bought and sold businesses, added and moved locations, and our customer base and product mixes have continued to evolve. With Ryder, we have a long-term partner that understands our business and grows and changes with us.”
With 23 manufacturing locations in the U.S. and Canada, Royal Building Products serves dealers, distributors, and builders with a growing line of building products, and has been doing so for nearly 50 years.
