Porous Pave, Inc. announced that BUILDINGS magazine has selected Porous Pave as a 2015 Money-Saving Product winner. Porous Pave is one of the superior building products showcased for commercial building owners and facility managers in the magazine's June issue.
An eco-friendly green building product made in the U.S.A., Porous Pave is a highly porous, flexible and durable pour-in-place pavement material. Porous Pave XL consists of 50 percent recycled rubber chips and 50 percent stone aggregate with a proprietary binding agent. Porous Pave XLS is 100 percent recycled rubber chips with a more elastic binder.
"Porous Pave is engineered to provide greater permeability than other permeable and pervious paving surfaces," said Dave Ouwinga, president and chief executive officer, Porous Pave, Inc. "Porous Pave can help building developers and property owners achieve stormwater retention goals with smaller installations. That saves money on materials and labor costs."
A proven Best Management Practice (BMP) for green stormwater infrastructure, Porous Pave infiltrates stormwater on-site, reduces the volume and slows the velocity of peak stormwater flow into storm drains and storm sewers, decreases erosion from runoff, filters out pollutants to improve water quality, and recharges groundwater. Porous Pave is engineered with 29 percent void space. It allows water to permeate through its surface, filter down through the compacted aggregate base on which it is poured, and then seep into the soil. Based on independent testing, up to 6,300 gallons of water per hour per square foot can drain though Porous Pave.
With two formulations, it offers unmatched versatility. Porous Pave XL is heavy-duty, suitable for foot and light vehicle traffic, including loading docks, parking areas, driveways, and golf cart paths. Porous Pave XL also provides a sustainable alternative to metal grates for tree surrounds in urban streetscapes. Porous Pave XLS is ideal for more impact-absorbing, slip-resistant surfaces around swimming pools and spas and for playgrounds at schools and public parks. XLS can also be over-poured to re-surface cracked concrete. Its 100 percent rubber content and light weight make it a practical option for paved areas on rooftops, including rooftop patios and decks and green roof walkways and borders.
Porous Pave, Inc. will exhibit Porous Pave XL and XLS at the American Public Gardens Association (AGPA) annual conference. The world's largest annual gathering of public horticulture professionals, the AGPA conference will be held on June 22-26, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 1300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, Minn. Porous Pave will conduct a workshop on porous pavement installation in the exhibit hall at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
