The first phase of development for a major expansion at Plantation Estates will commence on Friday, June 19 when the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) holds a groundbreaking ceremony with state and local officials beginning at 10 a.m. The total cost of the project is expected to exceed $95 million when complete.

ACTS Retirement-Life Communities, the parent company of Plantation Estates, indicates that pre-sales have been strong for the 20 one-story villas and 126 newly designed independent living apartment residences being added to the campus, two-thirds of which are now reserved.
The approximate 1,400-1,600 square-foot apartments and 1,800-2,100 square-foot villas each have two bedrooms with den, two bathrooms, and are available in a choice of styles and floor plans. The project also includes the addition of a two-story clubhouse that will encompass a fitness and aquatic center, multiple dining venues and a large auditorium for multi-function use.

The next phase of the campus enhancement will include the addition of a new WillowBrooke Court skilled care center that will incorporate the latest advances in residential, neighborhood-style nursing care and will increase capacity to 100 private skilled care beds. The existing skilled nursing center will then be renovated into additional assisted living residences. Additional apartments and villas may also be added in the future.

Continuing Care at Predictable Rates

In addition to independent living, Plantation Estates offers a continuum of care that includes assisted living and skilled care residences on campus to provide additional support if needed at no extra cost to residents. A partially refundable entrance fee and a monthly maintenance fee entitles residents to access all of the community's services and amenities, including restaurants, a fitness center and pool, and an array of social and recreational programs.

"We are very excited to start construction on the next evolution of our campus and begin serving a new generation of seniors who have indicated by their initial reservation deposits that they desire the retirement lifestyle experience and healthcare security our type of community will provide them," said Executive Director Stephen Messer.

Construction at Plantation Estates is expected to begin shortly at the intersection of Fullwood Lane and South Trade Street.
