Groundbreaking on a new building expansion project commenced last Monday, June 1, at King Solutions’ Minnesota headquarters. The location currently houses the corporate business operations along with a large portion of the company’s warehousing and trailer transportation services. King Solutions’ business is growing, and the company needs to accommodate the uptick in order to serve its customers in the most efficient manner possible.
The expansion includes an additional 54,276 square feet of warehouse space, bringing the total property, headquarters included, to approximately 200,000 square feet. The new warehouse facility will accommodate an additional 3,000 pallet positions and house a fleet of over 150 trailers. In line with King Solutions’ ThinKING Green initiative, the building will feature energy-efficient motion-sensor lighting and video surveillance.
“We operate a unique LTL and partial load consolidation program within our corporate location, delivering to every major market nationwide each week along with offering one of the industry’s most flexible pickup and drop-off schedules,” stated Michael Patterson, president and CEO of King Solutions. “The extra room will ensure that we can continue to build and deliver customized solutions for our clients.”
The construction of the original property was completed in September 2008, and this is the first expansion. The company headquarters and current warehouse will remain open during the construction. King Solutions enlisted the property’s original general contractor — RJ Marco, based out of Little Canada, Minn. — for the construction.
