Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Building Practices Wins ‘Green Building Champion Award’

Engineer Martin Roy was honoured once again during the "Building Lasting Change Conference" in Vancouver, where he was awarded one of the most prestigious prizes in sustainable building in Canada: the "Green Building Champion Award"!

An outstanding award!
It is in front of 500 attendees, during the "Building Lasting Change Conference" celebration, that Martin Roy received this award. Granted on a yearly basis by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), this award highlights Mr. Roy's outstanding contribution to the promotion of sustainable building practices in the Canadian construction industry. First LEED Fellow in Québec (2013), Martin Roy's unending commitment towards sustainable building practices coupled with his expertise and his innovative flair push back the limits of bioclimatic engineering, making him stand out in his field.

An amazing talent!
Whether imagining solar-powered heat pumps, a first in Québec (at the Caisse Desjardins de l'Ouest de la Mauricie – which won an award during Contech - 2015), taking part in the first Net-Zero building (the Varennes library) or being awarded the first LEED Gold certification in Québec (for the TOHU building), innovative sustainable development is part of this inspiring engineer's DNA. Teacher at the Université Laval, founding member of the Living Building Challenge Collaboratives of Montréal and a member of the Technical Committee for the Canada Green Building Council, Mr. Roy's integrity, authenticity and ethics have been time and again lauded by his peers.

An empowering recognition!
This award also recognizes 30 years of efforts to help progress the field of bioclimatic engineering, which Mr. Roy began doing before climate change became such an important issue in society.

"By promoting a profitable, reliable, sound and environmentally-friendly approach, engineers, particularly the next generation, can take pride in their profession. Today, they are in a position to make a major contribution to making the world a better place."
