The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have named Anderson Homes an Energy Star(R) 2006 Partner of the Year for its outstanding contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by building innovative "Peak Performance Energy Star Certified Homes." Anderson's outstanding homebuilding accomplishments will be recognized at the Energy Star Partners awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 21, 2006.
"Anderson Homes made a substantial investment in creating our Peak Performance Energy Star Homes because we knew the Triangle market would recognize the higher value and performance of our homes," said Dave Servoss, President of Anderson Homes. "And we are extremely honored to also be recognized by both the EPA and DOE as the leader in Energy Star homes for all of the Carolinas. The recognition by new home buyers and the US government validates our philosophy that building high performance, energy efficient homes is the best way to continually deliver more value to our buyers and our country."
"Energy Star homes come with important benefits for homeowners and help protect our environment," said Kathleen Hogan, director of the EPA's Climate Protection Partnerships Division. "We applaud the efforts of our partners such as Anderson Homes to create a new generation of homes that offer efficiency, comfort, and durability."
The Partner of the Year Award is given to a variety of organizations in recognition of their contribution to the construction of energy-efficient homes. A small group of winners are selected from over 8,000 organizations that participate in the Energy Star program. Anderson Homes was one of only eight builders selected in the country and the only homebuilder in the Carolinas to earn the award.
Anderson Homes is being honored for building homes that meet the EPA's strict guidelines for energy-efficiency. Their Peak Performance Homes deliver significant energy and cost savings, help protect the environment and measurably improve comfort, indoor air quality and noise reduction.
Anderson's Peak Performance Homes are at least thirty (30) percent more efficient than homes built to North Carolina's home construction energy code. Every Peak Performance Home provides better indoor air quality, uses a high-performance SEER-13 heating/cooling unit, includes advanced Low-E windows, and exploits the insulating properties of premium R-40 ceiling insulation - all of which add up to measurably improved performance and substantially reduced ongoing energy costs.
Last year alone, with the help of Energy Star, Americans saved $12 billion on their energy bills and enough peak energy to power 28 million homes. Through those savings they avoided greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of more than 23 million vehicles.
