New Specialty Laminate Collection from Formica

Formica Corporation, the inventor of laminate, introduces the 2015 Specialty Laminate Collection: nine new additions to the DecoMetal® Metal Laminates line, and three new additions to the ColorCore2TM Solid Color Laminates line. The new additions will be on display in the Formica Corporation booth #4171 at the 2015 HD Expo in Las Vegas on May 13 to 15.

Argent Craft, a new DecoMetal Metal Laminate, is a warm tone with a texture that combines the organic feel of carved wood with the high-tech color of modern metal.

"Research shows that the architecture and design community is looking for materials that are unique, beautiful and functional, all while retaining a high-level of durability," said Amy Gath, vice president of marketing at Formica Corporation. "Our new DecoMetal® additions combine the durability of Formica® laminate with on-trend metal colors and textures to bring luxury into today's commercial interiors and focal areas."

DecoMetal® laminate brings glamor and metallic authenticity to vertical surfaces, and is an affordable and durable alternative to high-end metal surfaces. The material is ideal for commercial vertical applications, such as walls, retail fixtures, signage, exhibits and displays. The new additions to the DecoMetal® line include:

  • Argent: a new warm tone, a mix between gold and aluminum. Available in Plex, Craft and Brushed textures.
  • Umbra: a new warm brown color, available in Plex, Craft and Brushed textures.
  • Aluminum: a classic cool color, now available in a Plex texture.
  • Bronzetoned: a brown with a hint of copper. Available in Plex and Craft textures.

Additionally, Plex and Craft are new DecoMetal® textures for 2015. Plex, first introduced in Europe, is a Red Dot Design award-winning texture that references metal mesh and textiles, and brings a unique new visual and tactile effect to metal surfaces. Craft texture combines the organic feel of carved wood, with the high-tech color of modern metal. Plex and Craft textures are matte.

"Another trend we're seeing is that gray is here to stay. In a palette of gray tones, our new ColorCore2TM colors meet both the aesthetic and practical needs of architects and designers," said Gath. "The ColorCore2TM range is aimed at providing versatile choices for a variety of commercial applications, without the brown lines typically associated with laminate."

ColorCore2TM laminate colors go all the way through, eliminating the look of a dark edge. With the core of the product coordinated to the decorative surface, ColorCore2TM can be engraved, carved, routed and layered to create unique custom designs. The material is ideal for commercial horizontal and vertical applications where durability and long-term visual appearance are a must, including casework, doors, tables and counters. The new additions to the ColorCore2TM Solid Color Laminates line include:

  • Storm: a warm dark gray, available in Matte and Gloss finishes.
  • Fossil: a neutral gray-green in a Matte finish.
  • Seed: a warm green blue-gray in a Matte finish.

The new DecoMetal® and ColorCore2TM additions are now available for specification. DecoMetal® and ColorCore2TM are GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions. For more information, or to order free samples, visit: www.formica.com.
