A wide range of polycarbonate sheet grades manufactured by Bayer MaterialScience LLC recently received an evaluation report (ESR# 2728) from ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), providing evidence that the polycarbonate sheets meet code requirements.
Building officials, architects, contractors, specifiers, designers and others utilize ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to provide a basis for specifying, using or approving Makrolon® polycarbonate and Hygard® polycarbonate sheets in construction projects under the International Building Code (IBC).
Specifically, Makrolon® polycarbonate grades GP, SL, AR, UV, and Mak 25; as well as Hygard® polycarbonate sheet grades CG375, CG500, CG750, BR750, BR1000, BR1250, MS1250, EX250, EX525, EX1100 and EX1300 were included in the ICC-ES evaluation report.
ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian explains why ICC-ES Evaluation Reports are so important. "Bayer MaterialScience can now reference the evaluation report to assure building officials and the building industry that the product meets I-Code requirements," Moinian said. "Building departments have a long history of using evaluation reports, and ICC-ES operates as a technical resource with the highest quality of product review for the building department. Final approval of building products is always in the hands of the local regulatory agency."
ICC-ES thoroughly examined Bayer MaterialScience's product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the product is code-compliant. "We are very pleased to have several grades of our polycarbonate sheet products evaluated by ICC-ES," said Dr. Ted Trautman, technology director – polycarbonate sheet products, North America, Bayer MaterialScience LLC. "The high-quality standards of the ICC-ES evaluation offer peace of mind to specifiers in the building industry who are looking to use Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet, as it is an approved product that complies with the requirements of the codes."
