Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions, a leading developer and operator of infrastructure projects for the college and university market, announced today it has been selected to design, build, and finance a $20M on-campus housing project for the University of Houston-Victoria through a public-private partnership.
The new 380-bed housing facility designed by KSQ Architects, will include two and four-bedroom suites designed to incorporate living/learning communities within the residence hall, as well as fitness equipment, building-wide Wi-Fi, a TV and gaming lounge, and kitchens/lounges on each floor to serve the sophomore and upper division student population located at the University of Houston System’s Victoria, Texas campus.
The University of Houston System Board of Regents approved the project at their February board meeting and the project is expected to get underway in June for scheduled delivery in August 2016. The construction partner on the project will be Dallas-based Balfour Beatty Construction, a leading residential and commercial construction firm, and a sister division of Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions. Upon completion, the housing will be operated by the University.
“We are delighted to be selected to develop this important project for the University of Houston System,” said Bob Shepko, president of Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions. “We look forward to achieving financial close in the months ahead and working with our partners and the University to deliver a vibrant living environment that will enhance the campus experience for students at the Victoria campus.”
