Aplix, a global leader in self-gripping fastening systems, today announced the use of their inter-mold® technology in Trim-Tex’s Drywall Sanding Tool dubbed the Black Widow. Aplix inter-mold® technology offers Trim-Tex the ability to create and design a cutting-edge, all in one drywall product, which maintains its integrity even under vigorous and extreme uses.
The inter-mold® technology is a breakthrough patented one-step injection molding solution which allows the creation of hooks directly into plastic parts.
“Pioneering innovative concepts and solutions for the drywall industry has unceasingly contributed to the success of our company,” said Mark Budzik, VP, Product Development. “By incorporating hooks directly into the tool’s surface, we were able to enhance the product’s features and create a high performance and durable product for our customers.”
The inter-mold® process is compatible with a wide range of injection-molded thermoplastics. Furthermore, a number of resins have been used for automotive, cleaning and medical applications including polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, acetyl and thermo-plastic urethanes (TPU). Aplix’s inter-mold® technology is easily implemented into injection-molding machinery and does not require moving parts or add-on equipment.
The benefits of inter-mold® include:
- Improved aesthetics
- Elimination of adhesive backed hook tape and attachment labor
- Chemical and liquid resistance
- A “green” solution
