Construct, SCRA Applied R&D’s architectural structures affiliate, today announced a contract with Layton Construction Company, a nationally-recognized general contractor. Construct will deliver and install a Composite Dome at the Faena Arts Center in Miami Beach, Fla. The Faena Arts Center is part of Argentinian developer Alan Faena’s $1 billion Faena Miami Beach project.
“Layton Construction Company is excited to be working together with Construct on this project,” stated Tyler Dillon, Construction Manager for Layton Construction Company.
The composite structure will be a self-supporting, monocoque design providing a light-weight alternative to cast-in-place concrete. The design is representative of the unique, custom-engineered composite structures of Construct. The dome will include supports for stage lights, sound equipment and hoist points. Construct works with architects early in the design process to select, engineer and deliver the best available material solution based upon key requirements and installation criteria for each project.
“This project demonstrates the custom-engineered composite structures that Construct can achieve,” said Construct General Manager David Humphries. “The beauty of elegant designs is brought to life with advanced materials that are strong, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing - offering incredible possibilities.”
