Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced today that it has received an award from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to provide project management/construction management and project controls support services for the design, renovation and construction of multiple facilities at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, Calif.
The overall program budget is up to $400 million.
The project, which comprises multiple buildings on a 51-acre site, includes the renovation and rehabilitation of an historic building; a new patient tower addition; two medical office buildings; demolition of multiple structures; and landscape/hardscape of over half of the site. Additionally, it includes design management and coordination with involved jurisdictions including the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development and the State Historic Preservation Office. The project is expected to be delivered using both job order contracting for make-ready work and design-build for the major building portions.
In making the announcement, Jacobs Group Vice President Tom McDuffie stated, "We are proud to be part of the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center renovation and revitalization effort. We support their vision of restoring health, rebuilding life and revitalizing hope."
Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center provides specialized care for patients with a variety of life-changing injuries. The hospital is recognized as an international leader in rehabilitation medicine and clinical research. Rancho is one of the largest rehabilitation hospitals in the United States, serving approximately 4,000 inpatients and 71,000 outpatients annually.
