VIATechnik, a Chicago-based engineering firm, is changing the way construction and engineering firms are doing business. Blending human capital and technology, VIATechnik provides the best talent the industry has to offer for the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) field. With Building Information Modeling (BIM) talent hard to find, VIATechnik's on-demand availability allows any construction project in any part of the country access to advanced services.
BIM adoption in North America skyrocketed from 28% to 71% between 2007 and 2012, with heavy adoption by contractors (74%) and architects (70%), according to a 2014 report titled "The Business Value of BIM for Construction in Major Global Markets" by McGraw Hill Construction. Even more encouraging, three quarters of all contractors surveyed reported a positive return on investment with BIM. However, with the rise of adoption of BIM and VDC, there is a shortage of resources in local markets, especially for construction companies located outside of major cities like New York, Chicago, or San Francisco.
"The construction industry has started to realize the benefits of recent new technological developments in the VDC space," says Danielle Dy Buncio, President and Co-Founder of VIATechnik. "VIATechnik's clients can tap into world-class talent and get access to high quality resources, helping their in-house teams do more with less and hit those critical deadlines."
VIATechnik's VDC Services include:
- 2D CAD and 3D BIM Services
- LOD 100-500 BIM
- 4D BIM (Scheduling), 5D BIM (Quantity & Costs), and 6D BIM (Facilities Management) Revit Quantity Take-Offs
- Point Cloud to BIM
- Construction Logistics and Phasing Plans
- 3D Renderings
Beyond the difficulties of finding BIM talent, many construction firms don't take full advantage of all the functionality that VDC software have to offer. By not using the software to its full potential, both time and money are wasted.
VIATechnik personnel are experienced in software platforms such as Autodesk Revit, Bentley AECOsim, Leica Cloudworx, Tekla, SketchUp, 3ds Max and others.
"Due to our software and technology expertise, our clients come to us to push the limits of what they are currently doing to really set them apart from their competition," says Dy Buncio.
VIATechnik serves clients around the country, and specializes in new building construction, heavy civil works, tenant improvements, and site development. The diversity of VIATechnik's past projects have ranged from a complete MEP LOD 400 model of a new 3-story hospital to complete quantity take-offs for a large scale airport renovation project.
