When looking to create a stunning design statement in the bath or powder room, homeowners look to Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath design, and its signature Artist Editions collection to create products that allow homeowners to express their individual lifestyles and personalities. The introduction of two new Artist Editions lavatories – Asoka Garden and Take Wing – to this collection of inspiring and stirring designs explores how visual texture can create bath and powder rooms with unmatched character and drama.
Asoka Garden Lavatory
Inspired by the secret garden central to the story of Ramayana, the new Asoka Garden design for the KOHLER Artist Editons collection illustrates the romantic love story of Prince Rama and Princess Sita and offers an incredibly visual texture courtesy of an exclusive, new glazing technique. Like most Artist Editions lavatories, the new Asoka Garden lavatory utilizes an intricate ceramic ink transfer process that offers impressive design detail. "Our new clear glaze process found on both Asoka Garden and Take Wing allows the bisque base color to show through the ceramic ink transfer and authentically capture the vitreous china material these lavatories are molded from," said Mary Reid, vice president of industrial design for Kohler.
Traditionally, lavatories are coated with more opaque-colored glaze that masks the natural material the lav is constructed of. The new glazing technique covers the lavatory with a see-through glaze prior to the application of the decorative pattern. The result is a three-dimensional, seemingly textural surface, created by the subtle shadow the pattern decal projects onto the material found underneath the clear glaze.
Available on the KOHLER Vintage™ undercounter lavatory in either a Bisque or Cashmere base color, the Indonesian-inspired Asoka Garden pattern creates a dramatic and authentic centerpiece for the bath or powder room.
Take Wing Lavatory
Take Wing – now offered in Indigo – is a popular decorative pattern that illustrates a cluster of butterflies that creates a repeating, whimsical design. A paisley pattern delicately comprises the wings of each butterfly and transitions seamlessly from one butterfly wing to another.
"The flexibility of the paisley pattern lends itself to represent several things, such as a butterfly wing in this instance," explained Reid. "In Take Wing, the organic nature of this meticulous design allows a flock of butterflies to emerge from the pattern, and the warm base colors on the lavatory create depth in the bath or powder room."
Take Wing is offered in two colors – Indigo and Sepia – and utilizes the same clear glaze technique used on Asoka Garden to create the same seemingly textural surface. The KOHLER Caxton™ undercounter lavatory serves as the canvas for this dynamic and attractive lavatory for the home.
