Hub Group, a leading provider of intermodal, truck brokerage and logistics services, announced today that it has received LEED® Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its new headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill.
The LEED rating system is the foremost program for buildings constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
"Our company strives to improve the planet each day, from reducing carbon emissions and saving fuel through our intermodal transportation solutions to employing sustainable practices at our headquarters. That's why we are so proud to achieve the prestigious LEED Gold status for our new building," said David P. Yeager, Chairman and CEO of Hub Group.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification reflects such sustainable features as high-efficiency HVAC, energy efficient lighting controls and storm water harvesting. The 130,000 square foot, four-story Hub Group headquarters building was completed in December 2013. Located in the I-88 Tech Corridor at 2000 Clearwater Drive in Oak Brook, Ill., the building houses approximately 500 employees and sits on a 17-acre site with natural habitat landscaping, ponds and walking trails.
"Hub Group's LEED Certification demonstrates tremendous green building leadership," said Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO and Founding Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council. "The urgency of the USGBC's mission has challenged the industry to move faster and reach further than ever before and Hub Group serves as a prime example of just how much we can accomplish."
