Revolution Lighting Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of advanced LED lighting solutions, today announced the completion of a major LED lighting project at Baldor Specialty Foods in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx, NY.
The solid-state lighting project consisting of 3,000 Seesmart LED tube lamps and exterior wall packs will yield a kWh use reduction of more than 750,000 kWh, equating to a 70% reduction in lighting energy savings. The LED retrofit project will deliver a payback in approximately thirteen months, with Baldor’s total net energy savings over five years exceeding $500,000, as well as CO2 reductions of nearly one million pounds. The project will also result in a $124,000 rebate from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
“Baldor will see immediate reductions in their energy use and costs, resulting in HVAC and maintenance cost savings as well,” said Charlie Schafer, President and Chief Financial Officer, Revolution Lighting Technologies. “Because our Seesmart LED tubes produce considerably less heat than their existing lamps, the load on Baldor’s current cooling and refrigeration systems will be substantially reduced, resulting in greater operational efficiency and financial savings.”
Schafer continued, “This project is a prime example of the financial and environmental benefits our LED lighting solutions are delivering to our customers, as well as the continued acceleration in LED adoption by companies who are looking to improve their operating profits and reduce carbon emissions.”
As compared with fluorescent or CFL bulbs, Seesmart’s LED linear tubes are safe and clean, containing no hazardous or poisonous materials such as Mercury. In addition, Seesmart’s LED tubes do not have a glass lens, making them an ideal choice for food preparation areas, and they are not impacted by the cold temperatures Baldor must maintain in their cold storage areas.
