The Jerde Partnership, an international architecture and urban design firm based in Los Angeles, CA, proudly received the Highly Commended honor for Mixed-Use Architecture – South Korea, as part of the prestigious International Property Awards in the 2014 Asia Pacific regional competition.
Successful entrants attended a high-profile gala and presentation dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur where the official announcements were made. The Jerde-designed winning entry was D-Cube City in Seoul, South Korea, developed by Daesung Industrial Co., Ltd. At approximately 320,000 square meters, the mixed-use, transit-oriented development generates a significant model for urban renewal and smart density, emerging as one of the city’s primary live/work/play/stay destinations. D-Cube City was ranked against other prominent works by architects in the region to receive this highly regarded recognition.
Stuart Shield, president of the International Property Awards, says, “It never ceases to amaze me how competing companies operating in the Asia Pacific region continue to raise the bar even higher every year. The commitment to excellence they demonstrate in every aspect of their profession represents the very essence of these awards.”
The Asia Pacific Property Awards are part of the long established International Property Awards. Attaining one of these coveted awards is indisputable evidence that Jerde continues to outperform a range of exceedingly strong contenders within the highly competitive Asia Pacific property arena.
“We are tirelessly passionate about creating legacy places for people around the world, and the Asia region has always been and will continue to be a focused market for Jerde’s distinct brand of design and planning,” says John Simones AIA, Jerde Co-CEO, design director. “D-Cube City exemplifies an integrated design and pedestrian-oriented place to enhance livability within the urban fabric.”
