Ledcor Joins Affinity Partnerships to Build New Teck Acute Care Centre at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital

The Ledcor Group confirmed, with joint venture partner Balfour Beatty and through Affinity Partnerships, that they have finalized negotiations with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) and signed a definitive agreement to construct and operate the new Teck Acute Care Centre (ACC) at the BC Children's and BC Women's Hospital + Health Centre.

"We are extremely pleased to join with Affinity Partnerships in committing to build the new Teck Acute Care Centre and operate it for the next 30 years," said Scott Lyons, President, Ledcor Special Projects. "BC Children's is known the world over as a leader in children's healthcare and its redevelopment is an exciting project for Ledcor, for Vancouver and for British Columbia."

As part of the Affinity Partnerships consortium, Ledcor Developments will invest 30% or $6.6 million of the $21.8 million equity into the project, with Balfour Beatty investing the remaining equity.

The private public partnership (PPP or P3) project scope covers the design, construction, financing and facilities management. Design-build construction services will be delivered through a 50:50 partnership between Ledcor and Balfour Beatty.

Construction of the new Teck Acute Care Centre building is expected to get underway in the fall of 2014, with service commencement scheduled for 2017.
