Steel Energy Services, Ltd., which provides well servicing, workover and other services to the oil and gas industry, today announced it has pledged $150,000 over three years toward the construction of a new TrainND-Northwest regional workforce training and education center in Williston, North Dakota.
TrainND, a non-profit organization, has launched a $7.5 million capital campaign to construct a 19,740 square-foot facility, which will provide Northwest North Dakotans with access to the technical skills and training they need to meet current and future needs of the state’s workforce, including the oil and gas industry, as well as nursing, management, IT, manufacturing and other professions.
John J. Quicke, chief executive officer of Steel Energy Services, said, “We are pleased to support this important project as part of our commitment to fostering a well-trained workforce in the Williston Basin.”
Stewart J. Peterson, the company’s vice-president of northern operations, added, “We fully understand the importance of having professionally trained employees, and we are happy to support our community, especially as the economy expands and the demand for additional workers increases.”
Deanette Piesik, chief executive officer of TrainND, said, “We deeply appreciate the generosity and commitment of Steel Energy Services to this extremely important community project. The proposed center will be a valuable local area vocational resource for a wide range of jobs, from entry level to advanced technology positions.”
TrainND-Northwest provides adult learning and employee training programs that enable North Dakota businesses to maintain a well-trained workforce to stay viable and competitive. Its programs are focused on maximizing employee productivity, helping participants keep up with trends and technology and providing access to a wide range of professionals in the region.
In addition to the Williston program, which is situated on the Williston State College campus, other TrainND locations include Lake Region State College at Devils Lake; North Dakota State College of Science at Wahpeton; and Bismarck State College, in Bismarck. The four TrainND regions last year provided training for 1,489 companies for nearly 24,000 employees.
The new Williston facility will provide training classes that enable current and future generations to obtain advance skills in areas that are critical to the growth and diversification of North Dakota’s economy.
