The event marked a construction milestone for HCA's new 144,000 square foot facility opening in January of 2015. The 30-bed, acute-care hospital will include medical/surgical beds, intensive care beds, an emergency department, labor and delivery and postpartum recovery suites, dedicated cesarean-section operating rooms, surgical suites, and a general nursery. The hospital will also feature an imaging department, which includes digital mammography, magnetic resonance imaging, computerized tomography, catheterization lab, echocardiogram testing, and nuclear medicine modalities.

"We are excited about the progression of Pearland Medical Center, a hospital designed to meet the growing needs of Pearland and its surrounding communities," Dixon said. "Our 'Signing the Steel' event moves us closer to providing the residents of Pearland and Brazoria County with convenient, high-quality healthcare."

The new hospital will be located at the southwest intersection of Highway 288 and Shadow Creek Parkway on a 48-acre site currently home to a full-service, freestanding emergency department, imaging center, and three-story, 80,000 square foot medical office building.
