An innovative new shower tray, which is incredibly strong, is set to capitalise on the trend for level access showering at Interbuild 2006.
The Mullen shower tray can easily fit into bathrooms of any size - and even into alcoves - and is sure to generate a lot of interest from housebuilders.
Level access showering and wetrooms are set to be one of the big trends in the bathroom market and Interbuild 2006 will be the best place to catch up with all the latest innovations in the sector. The exhibition, the UK's premier construction event, takes place from April 23-27 at the NEC in Birmingham and will showcase a wide range of innovative solutions for the bathroom and the home.
The Mullen, produced by Worcester-based AKW Medicare, can be trimmed on site into the available space, according to sales & marketing manager Ruth Bury.
"It is proving to be particularly popular for clients who want to fit the tray into a space where a bath has been removed," she said.
Ruth explained the tray gives a completely level access to the shower, which means it is ideal for elderly or less able users.
She added: "The slip resistant bathroom flooring can be trimmed into the edge of the tray, making it easy to install. "The flooring is then mechanically fixed into the tray using a unique clamping strip for a superb water tight joint which seals the slip resistant flooring into the tray itself to provide total water integrity.
"This is a critical aspect. It is why this product is such a good design and is so popular, because nobody wants to risk water leaking into flooring."
The tray is tremendously strong because it is made from the tough GRP plastic and can withstand a 30 stone user in a wheelchair alongside a carer. Although the product is primarily aimed at the domestic market it is also suitable for nursing homes and to provide level access showering in hotel rooms or leisure centres.
Added Ruth: "The market for level access showering products will continue to grow and we view Interbuild 2006 as the ideal place to showcase our leading edge equipment to a wide range of potential clients."
