San Diego-based Watkins Landmark Construction is proud to debut its latest "landmark" project: the newly renovated and vastly expanded Indian Wells Tennis Garden, home of the BNP Paribas Open, which begins today.
Watkins Landmark Construction completed construction of a second stadium, Stadium 2, and a sizeable Site Expansion Project for the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in just 10 months and 10 days. These additions are projected to increase attendance at the BNP Paribas Open to well over 500,000 attendees, making it the largest ATP World Tour and WTA Premier combined event in the world.
Stadium 2 has the distinction of being the only tennis stadium in the world to offer five-star dining at either of its restaurants, Nobu and the Chop House, enabling diners to watch the tournament from the comfort of their tables. Piero's PizzaVino, an Italian restaurant, also offers a casual dining alternative for families. Beautifully appointed shade structures, luxurious lounging areas, and expanded walkways add to the sophistication of the venue. In short, Watkins Landmark Construction's contributions have enabled the Indian Wells Tennis Garden to set a new global standard for tennis facilities.
"We needed a construction team that could execute a visionary, top-quality expansion in a short period of time," said Raymond Moore, CEO of Indian Wells Tennis Garden. "Based on our experience working with Jody Watkins, which dates back to 1998 when we first worked with him to build the original Tennis Garden, we knew that his company, Watkins Landmark Construction, could be counted on to deliver exceptional quality in a timely manner, meeting our exacting standard of perfection."
San Diego-based Watkins Landmark Construction prides itself in building architecturally complex projects that are aesthetically pleasing. Staying true to their name, Watkins Landmark Construction specializes in building projects that stand out in the surrounding community as a "landmark." Notable projects include the Life Technologies' Data Recovery Center, Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Scripps Park West (Building 1), Spike Africa's Fresh Fish Grill & Bar in the Gaslamp Quarter, the Episcopal Church Center in Ocean Beach, the Holiday Inn Express in Indio, the Fairbanks Ranch Gates and Guardhouses project, and the San Luis Rey Crossing retail center in Oceanside, to name a few.
"At Watkins Landmark Construction, we take all of our projects personally," said President and CEO of Watkins Landmark Construction, Jody James Watkins. "We are excited to debut our vision for the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, and we're particularly grateful to the surrounding community for its generous support throughout our efforts. I hope that this impressive structure will be enjoyed by the hundreds of thousands of tennis fans who attend the BNP Paribas Open every year, as I truly believe we've constructed a new 'landmark' of unparalleled beauty."
