Independence LED Lighting, the award winning U.S. LED manufacturer, announces that the Brooklyn Renaissance Plaza and New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge have set a new standard for Energy Efficient Parking Garages.
Average illumination area per fixture: 564 Square Feet (SF)
New Benchmark: 44 watt LED fixture = 0.078 watts per SF
Previous Benchmark: 50 watt LED fixture = 0.088 watts per SF
Common Fluorescent: (2) 8' 75 watt tubes = 0.265 watts per SF
Common Metal Halide: (1) 175 watt bulb = 0.310 watts per SF

For this project, ultra-high efficiency 44 watt LED fixtures replaced 175 watt metal halide fixtures. The Independence LED fixtures also earned $68,000 in rebates, from the NY State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
