Fluor Corporation announced today its joint venture team was selected by Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) as the preferred bidder to design, construct and commission the Mina Abdullah Package 2 Clean Fuels Project in southern Kuwait. Fluor expects to book its undisclosed portion of the project value in the company’s first quarter of 2014.
For the lump-sum, turnkey project, Fluor will provide engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) services as well as the associated commissioning, start-up and testing support.
“This project will increase productivity at the facility while also delivering products that comply with state-of-the-art environmental standards,” said Taco de Haan, president of Fluor Energy & Chemicals for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. “We are proud to continue our decades-long legacy of executing EPC projects with KNPC in Kuwait. We look forward to working with our joint venture partners and KNPC to successfully deliver this critical project.”
The Clean Fuels Project involves upgrading Kuwait’s Mina Abdullah and Mina Al-Ahmadi refineries in order to increase capacity.
Fluor formed a joint venture with Daewoo Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Heavy Industries for the Clean Fuels Project.
