Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company and leading building products manufacturer, is returning to the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) in Las Vegas for the first time since 2007. The largest annual light construction show in the world, JM is using IBS 2014 as an opportunity to reintroduce its increasingly robust line of insulation products to builders.
“The last time JM attended IBS, we were mostly known for our premium fiber glass insulation. However, over the past seven years during the tough economy, we doubled-down on our investment and significantly expanded our portfolio of insulation solutions,” said Fred Stephan, senior vice president of Insulation Systems at Johns Manville. “We’ve added open- and closed-cell foam, interior and exterior foam sheathing and mineral wool to our line, and now offer one of the broadest ranges of building insulation products.”
JM’s highly interactive booth (#1847) will highlight the performance benefits and application diversity of the company’s insulation and other building products. Visitors can also learn about JM’s newest offerings: a complete line of residential and commercial mineral wool and a newly introduced backer board.
In addition, the booth will feature the Spray Foam Game, which gives show attendees an entertaining and challenging opportunity to install spray foam digitally—no safety gear or dry time required. Participants will be judged on quality and speed of installation, and each hour the contestant with the highest score will receive a $100 Lowe’s Gift Card.
JM will also host renowned industry expert Johnathan Smoke, who will lead a discussion, “Consumer Demand for Insulation and Energy Efficiency,” from 12:45 to 1:45 on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at IBS Live.
Smoke, the Chief Economist at Hanley Wood, is a national expert on tracking and analyzing housing market conditions across the country. He will share key predictions and trends that will be useful to building professionals in 2014 and beyond.
Other JM product highlights include:
- TempControl™ and Sound & Fire Block™ residential mineral wool. JM’s two residential mineral wool products have a high melting point in excess of 2000°F, and can help delay fire spread, create quieter homes, increase privacy between rooms and reduce heating and cooling costs. They complement JM’s three commercial mineral wool products, MinWool Safing™, MinWool CurtainWall™ and MinWool Sound Attenuation and Fire Batts™.
- Newly introduced GoBoard™, JM’s lightweight durable backer board. GoBoard, the new tile backer board from JM, is a durable, lightweight alternative to cement boards that can be used throughout the home. Easy to cut with a basic utility knife, it won’t shred, crumble or disintegrate. What’s more, it’s about the same price as cement boards, with waterproofing already included.
- Significant enhancements to JM Corbond III® spray foam insulation. While maintaining its superior sprayability and signature lavender color, JM Corbond III now requires significantly less product to deliver the desired R-value. For example, contractors now need only 5.5 inches of spray foam to achieve an R-38, compared to the previously needed six inches to achieve an R-21 in a 2x4 cavity with one three-inch pass.
- A redesigned, solution-driven website that consolidates multiple websites into one. Historically, users obtained JM information via a number of different websites. JM’s newly launched consolidated site allows users to easily access the information they need, from a variety of devices.
Available for interviews are Fred Stephan, SVP of JM Insulation Systems; JR Babineau, Building Scientist; Jo Anne Cambruzzi, BI Product and Marketing Leader, Tom Calzavara, Platform Leader; and Geoff Stephenson, National Account Manager for Spray Foam.
