Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency Selects Abengoa for New Electricity Transmission Project

Abengoa, the company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, has been chosen by the Brazilian National Electricity Agency (ANEEL) to carry out a new electricity transmission project in the country. The investment equals an amount of €170 M and it is forseen that Abengoa will directly contribute €20 M, approximately.

Abengoa will be responsible for carrying out the engineering, design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of the electricity transmission concession, which will cover 367 km, ensuring the highest levels of quality at every stage.The line will come into operation in September 2017.

The concession comprises a 367 km transmission line with a capacity of 500 kV between the Marimbondo II and Campinas substations. The project is located in the states of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais in south east Brazil.

Abengoa has already carried out other projects for the Brazilian National Electricity Regulatory Agency, including the Linha Verde and Norte Brasil lines; and the most recent project awarded in May, which involves three new lines with a total length of 2,000 km.

This latest project will further develop Abengoa’s experience in transmission lines, consolidating its leadership of this sector in Latin America, where it has more than 22,000 km of this type of transmission projects. It has also participated in developing nearly 12,000 km of electricity transport infrastructures in Brazil.
