Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, today announced an agreement to supply AV Group New Brunswick with a 79-meter (259-foot) clear span bridge to support logging operations. When installed, the prefabricated modular steel bridge will be the longest clear span vehicular bridge supplied by Acrow to date in Canada.
“Modular steel bridging is a cost-effective solution for meeting many of the transportation infrastructure needs of the natural resources sector in Canada,” said Ken Scott, President, Acrow Ltd. “Our galvanized steel bridges are engineered to support heavy loads and frequent use. Even under the most rugged conditions, they are practically maintenance free.”
The new bridge will be capable of spanning securely across the river below without needing to place support piers in the water. Support piers in the middle of a river are vulnerable to structural damage when exposed to river ice flows.
“Built to last, our bridges can be installed as permanent or long-term temporary structures, depending on the customer’s needs,” Scott added. “Many customers use our bridges for temporary access and like the fact that the bridges can be easily disassembled and reconfigured to suit a different requirement.”
Delivery of the steel bridge components is scheduled for the fall. Due to the modular design of the components, bridge assembly and installation is a fast and straight-forward process, requiring minimal equipment.
